The UN MAPS is a product developed and implemented by the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies SGITT for the Department of Field Support (DFS) and the Department of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO).
The UN MAPS application is securely hosted by the UN Global Service Centre (GSC), and provides its Customers the following ingredients with a reliable platform for access, visualization and download of updated:
UN Street Map is a global base map that provides Contextual information as a background for geospatial enterprise solutions Such as MCOP, SAGE, Tetra, etc.
UN Operational Map is an online/web map service that visualizes operational activities carried out by UN field mission.
UN Globe is a 3D solution that allows the user to view and search geospatial imagery and terrain features.
UN Image Map is web image basemap generated by the integrated and seamless collection of the best UN-ownedimagery plus other publicly available data sources.
Create update and publish web services that provide turn by turn navigation and directions, service area, closest facility etc.
Create, update and publish address locators and geocode services to search map features.
The Application is designed to be accessible from any device equipped with an internet connection, and aims at improving the timeliness and quality of information used in strategic, operational and tactical decision-making and forecasting, presenting information in an intuitive format to the people who need it, and bringing heightened awareness to the field missions of the situations that will impact their operations and personnel.
